Flight of Passage

Fall 2024 | Riso Animation | Professor David Wolske

This short animation was created using two-color risograph printing across 24 frames and is inspired by Corita Kent’s Ten Rules. I was particularly drawn to Rules 2 and 3: “Pull everything out of your teacher” and “pull everything out of your students.” I visualized the student-teacher relationship as a mentor bird guiding a baby bird in learning how to fly. The switching of roles in the animation symbolizes the transfer of knowledge, as the student gradually becomes the master. This exchange is cyclical—while the teacher imparts wisdom, they also gain new insights through the act of teaching..
